In 1976, Dr. David Smith started his lifelong dedication to provide the citizens of Niagara with the highest quality of dental care.
Dr. Daryl Smith and Dr. Judene Smith, son & daughter of Dr. David Smith were fortunate enough to spend the last 10 years of their father’s life and career working together.
And today, though Dr. David Smith is no longer with us, Smith Family Dentistry continues on the goal to treat people with the same high quality dental care and integrity that he did.
People and their teeth were the priority and ethical treatment, with respect for individuals and their hard earned money were the cornerstones of Dr. David Smith’s dental practice.

Dr. David Smith’s approach to dentistry was shaped by his own childhood experiences in Northern Ontario, where care was impersonal and, at times, harsh. As a young boy, he believed there had to be a better way. And he spent his life proving exactly that.
He became a dentist who treated every patient as he would a friend, with warmth, honesty, and unwavering compassion. Whether it was a routine visit or an emergency on Christmas Day, he showed up with dedication and a smile.
He treated everyone equally—regardless of their circumstances. From those facing hardship to those simply seeking care, every person was met with the same kindness and respect.
Even in the face of illness, he remained a source of light and positivity to those around him. His passing in 2019 was a profound loss, but his spirit continues to guide the practice he built.
The Beginning (Legacy & Purpose)
In 1976, Dr. David Smith began a journey that would shape dental care in the Niagara Region for generations. His vision was simple, yet profound: to provide the highest quality dental care while treating every patient with honesty, dignity, and respect.
From the very beginning, people—not procedures—were the priority. Dr. Smith believed that ethical treatment and respect for each individual, as well as their hard-earned money, were not optional—they were essential.

That philosophy did not end with him—it grew.
Dr. Daryl Smith and Dr. Judene Smith, his son and daughter, had the rare privilege of working alongside their father during the final decade of his career. Those years were more than mentorship, they were a passing of values, of compassion, and of a deeply rooted belief in doing dentistry differently.
Together, they helped shape a practice grounded not only in clinical excellence, but in genuine human connection.
Continuing the Legacy
Although Dr. David Smith is no longer with us, his presence is still deeply felt in every part of Smith Family Dentistry.

Since opening its doors in 1976 in downtown St. Catharines, Smith Family Dentistry has proudly served the Niagara community for decades, creating generations of healthy smiles.
But this is not your average dental office.
Here, the atmosphere feels like family. Patients are welcomed warmly, conversations come easily, and there is a genuine sense of care that goes beyond dentistry. The team’s connection to one another carries into how they care for every patient who walks through the door.
