The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) represents an initiative by the federal government to dismantle financial obstacles hindering access to oral health care. This program is designed to extend coverage for dental expenses to Canadian residents lacking dental benefits.
CDCP is now open to all ages. For more information on how to apply click here.
If you are currently covered under the CDCP, you will need to renew your coverage starting June 1, 2025 in order to maintain coverage from 2025 and 2026.

Smith Family Dentistry is so happy to welcome three outstanding dentists to our team. Although not directly related to the Smith family, these exceptional dentists certainly are honorary members: Dr. Fred Ross joined in 2019 and Dr. Dan Izzo joined in 2020.

Dentist
Dr. Dan Izzo was born and raised in the Niagara Region. His passion for dentistry began in Grade 6.

Cassandra “Cassie” Catena
Denturist
Cassie has been a part of Smith Family Dentistry since 2019.
Cassie earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2007 before graduating from the Denturism program at George Brown College with honours and passing her provincial licensing exam with the College of Denturists of Ontario in 2012.
After graduation, Cassie moved to Memphis, TN, where she worked as a dental assistant before her return to St. Catharines, where she was raised. Most recently, Cassie has earned an Advanced Diploma from the Hearing Instrument Specialist program at George Brown College.
Cassie’s favourite part about being a Denturist is helping people regain their smiles and confidence!
Andre Benoit
The “Son-In-Law”
Dr. David Smith was remarkably able to accomplish all the business successes he had while doing full time clinical dentistry. A legendary feat for sure.
But more “normal” people need help accomplishing all that.
We are so proud to have, Andre, Dr. David Smith’s son-in-law (Dr. Judene’s husband), as Smith Family Dentistry’s Director. Aka “the business guy.”
Andre has a bachelors of commerce degree from Rotman’s School of Management. He’s worked as a data analyst in financial markets and as a business analyst in the public and private sectors.
Andre is extremely passionate about dentistry and in fact, he did a dentistry specific project in business school for his small business management class.
(Funny story: Dr. David Smith always said he had no idea what Andre did for work. He even said that during his wedding speech at Andre and Dr. Judene’s wedding. But now that Andre works at Smith Family Dentistry, he would know what Andre does!)
